Police said they were arrested Saturday morning and the night before.

Ashikur Rahman, a student injured in the attack, presented a case against 21 people, including the managing director of the university, at the Chandrima police station in Rajshahi on Friday night.

Those arrested are Mithu, younger brother of Moniruzzaman Swadhin, managing director of Shah Makhdum Medical College, and his wife Beauty. The names of the other two will be released later, police said.

On November 2, the Ministry of Health declared the school closed for non-compliance with conditions and ordered the students to migrate. Since then, students have been campaigning for speedy migration.

The attack on the students is believed to have taken place on Friday afternoon.

At least 10 students were injured. They were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Chandrima Police Station OC Sirajum Munir said a case has been registered against 21 people by mentioning the names of nine people. In addition, 12 people have been charged without identifying.

“Two people were arrested the night after the case and two more in the morning.”

Mithu, his wife Beauty and two other people were arrested after watching video of the attack. He also said that a police operation is underway to arrest the remaining defendants.

Meanwhile, a four-member delegation from the Health Ministry visited the site on Saturday afternoon following a call from authorities to the ministry to reconsider the decision to close the school. They tour the campus.

A member of the delegation, Prof. Sarfuddin Ahmed told reporters that the medical school would not function without the necessary environment. But if you can create an environment, you can bring safety to the students, then I will go to Dhaka and decide on this.

On the attack, he said, “Those involved in the attack will be brought to justice.

He also said that if this medical school starts one day, teachers will have to be brought in. As long as there are no teachers, arrangements have been made for the migration of students.

“They will be sent to another university as soon as we can.”

He was accompanied by the Additional Director General of the Department of Health Education, Prof. AKM Amirul Islam Morshed, the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Health Education and Family Welfare Abdul Kabir and the Deputy Director of the Department of Health Education, Dr. Utpal Kishore.

Meanwhile, students held a sit-in on the university campus on Saturday demanding the arrest of the attackers.

Police have been deployed on the university campus.
