Span 36 of the Padma Bridge was installed on Friday in just six days. 5,400 meters of the bridge have been seen. And with only five spans, the entire 6,150-meter-long bridge will be visible. The authorities hope to have all the sections installed before Victory Day.
Span 36 named ‘1-B’ was placed at poles 2 and 3 on the Mawa side around 10:15 am yesterday. The installation of the section began at 8 am. After measuring inch by inch, the span is lifted on the pole at 9 o’clock. After that, the span 36 was placed on the bearing. This span is very close to the Mawa arrow. Section 35 was held on October 31. Dewan Md. Abdul Quader, Executive Engineer (Main Bridge) of Padma Bridge, said: “After laying span 36 of Padma Bridge, we expected to install all remaining spans by December 10 before the next Victory Day, yes God wants”.
He said that if the first span of the Mawa end of the bridge is placed at ‘1-A’, it will connect to the Mawa end of the bridge. The tranche will rise in these poles 1 and 2 on November 16. This will be section 36. Previously, on November 11, section 36 (section 2-C) will be installed on posts 9 and 10 of the bridge. In addition, section 39 (section 2-D) at poles 10 and 11 on November 23, section 40 (section 2-e) at poles 11 and 12 on December 2 and the last section 41 (section 2- F) December 10 and 12 at poles 12 and 13. There is talk of sitting on top.
Earlier, at 10:30 am on Thursday, the floating ship ‘Tian-e’ left Mawa Construction Yard with the span named 1-B for the purpose of specific posts. Two hours later, at 12:30 p.m., the span reached the post. Later it was also raised to a height to be placed on posts. But for some technical reasons it couldn’t be installed on Thursday. Dewan Md. Abdul Quader said that four sections were installed in October. There are also plans to install four sections in November.
A total of 42 poles are being built on the 6.15 km long double-decker Padma Bridge. Of these, 21 are at the Mawa end and 21 at the Jazira end. And 41 spans will sit on these 42 posts. Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. The 6.15 km long Padma Bridge will be built by placing 41 spans in 42 piers. Some of these poles are already visible. The Padma Bridge is expected to open in 2021 after its completion.
