Of the 39 public universities in the country, 30 are going to take the admission test. Three specialized universities are seeking to pass a batch admissions test with four engineering universities in the country. However, the Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET) has not yet accepted it.
On the other hand, the four universities, including Dhaka, which were governed by the 1973 Act, do not want to go in groups. Also, there is no opportunity to go to Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology in a cluster system. And the University of Professionals (BUP) will admit students individually. This information was confirmed by the member of the University Scholarship Commission (UGC), Prof. Muhammad Alamgir.
UGC member Prof. Muhammad Alamgir said: “30 universities undergo admissions tests in a group system. It has been decided to take the admission test in 19 general and science and technology universities in a cluster system. The cluster admission process will continue for 8 agricultural universities. No meetings were held with engineering universities. Letters have been sent to three other RUET, CUET and CUET, including the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). After receiving the response to BUET’s letter, I will discuss with the other three. Three specialized textile universities in Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University want to go with BUET, but BUET does not agree. Since BUET supports diploma, there is no possibility to go with anyone. The Bangladesh Professionals University (BUP) will do it themselves.
According to UGC sources, the general and science and technology universities have agreed to admit 19 universities to the cluster system. Furthermore, Bangladesh University of Engineering (BUET), Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have not yet Took a decision. UGC has sent letters to these four universities, including BUET, for admission to the cluster system.
As there are diploma courses, the Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) will arrange admission separately.
And Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Rajshahi University and Chittagong University, which are governed by the 1973 Act, are still in a firm position to admit students to honors classes through separate examinations.
According to UGC, Bangladesh Textile University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University wanted to go with BUET in a group, but BUET did not agree. These three universities are waiting to go grouped with four universities, including BUET. In addition, students will be admitted separately by the University of Professionals (BUP).
