Allama Junaid Babungari
Chittagong: Temporary responsibilities have been assigned to three senior teachers from the Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Mueenul Islam madrassa in Hathazari.
At the same time, Allama Junaid Babungari, general secretary of Hifazat-e-Islam, has been nominated as the “Chief Shaykhul Hadith” of the Madrasa.
The decision was made at a Shura Committee meeting at the Hathazari Madrasa Majlis after the burial of Allama Ahmad Shafi on Saturday afternoon (September 19).
Eight of the 11 members of the Shura Committee were present at the meeting. At the end of the meeting, Shura member Maulana Noman Faizi read the decision made by the Shura.
He said that after the death of the great Hazur (Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi), the responsibility of running the madrasa has been entrusted to Mufti Abdus Salam, Allama Sheikh Ahmad and Maulana Yahya jointly. At the same time, Allama Junaid Babungari, Secretary General of Hifazat-e-Islam, has been appointed Director of Education and Head of Madrasa, Shaykhul Hadith.
He also said that Maulana Hafeez Shoaib has been given the responsibility of deputy director of education for the madrasa.
Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi has served as Muhtamim of Hathazari Madrasa, known as the oldest and largest Qaumi Madrasa in the country since 1986.
He resigned on Thursday (September 18) to a student movement. He was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital at midnight the same day.
He was taken to the Asgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka on Friday (September 18) afternoon. He died at the Asgar Ali Hospital at night.
