A six-member investigative committee has been formed to investigate the incident. Furthermore, the government has already decided to deploy 10 armed Ansar members to 57 upazilas of Rangpur division to strengthen the security of Upazila Nirbahi officers.

Interior Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that no one involved in the incident will be released.

Meanwhile, Jahangir Alam, coordinator of the Juba League, Asadul Haque, member of the Juba League and Masud Rana, leader of the Juba League Ghoraghat Singra Union, came out for questioning after the incident.

After the attack, Waheeda Khanam and her father Omar Ali Sheikh were rescued in the early hours yesterday and were first admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and then Ms. Khanam was admitted to Rangpur Community Medical College.

Later, when Ms. Khanam’s physical condition deteriorated, yesterday she was taken to the Neuroscience Hospital in Dhaka by air ambulance.

It is said that Ms. Khanum regained consciousness after about two hours of surgery last night.

Although the operation was successful, doctors told reporters that he was still not completely sure due to heavy bleeding from his head.
