3 more defendants arrested in the Shalla incident

In two cases, 1,500 people were charged with attacking minorities in the Shalla upazila village of Sunamganj in Noagaon. As of Sunday (March 21), a total of 33 people, including the main defendant, have been arrested in the two cases.

According to police sources, the police raided several villages in Dirai and Shalla upazilas on Saturday night and arrested three more defendants.

Shalla Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Nazmul Haque told Jago News that police raided the home last night and arrested three defendants in the case. So far, the police have arrested 33 defendants in the case. An attempt is being made to arrest the rest of the accused.

Meanwhile, the arrest of the main defendant in the case has brought relief to the residents of Noagaon.

It can be mentioned that Jhumon Das, a young man from Noagaon village, granted a derogatory status to Allama Mamunul Haque, the deputy general secretary of Apan Hefazat-e-Islam, on Facebook. The incident took place on the morning of March 17 in the Hindu village of Noagaon. The houses of 69 families and 6 family temples were damaged.

The police filed a case at Shalla Police Station and another Habibpur Union Parishad resident Vivekananda Bakul filed another case.
