Three Indian soldiers were killed and another five were wounded by shooting by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
The matter was reported on the Indian outlet NDTV on Thursday.
Citing the Indian military, NTV reported that India had also responded appropriately to the incident. However, it was not immediately clear whether Pakistani soldiers were killed.
A spokesman for the Indian Defense Department said the ceasefire was broken on Wednesday night and shots and mortars were fired in the Mankot and Krishnaghati sectors. Two soldiers were killed and four others wounded when Pakistani troops fired mortars at them in the Naugam sector of the Kupwara district in northern Kashmir this morning. The wounded have been rescued.
Earlier, Pakistani forces shot dead an Indian soldier in the Punch sector.
India alleges that Pakistan has attacked these villages in Punch in the past five days.
On September 5, an Indian soldier was killed and two others, including an officer, were wounded in a heavy mortar shell fired by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control in Rajouri, authorities said.
On September 2, Pakistani troops shot and killed a junior officer in the Kerry sector of Rajouri, NDTV reported.
