Twenty-three healthcare workers, including doctors, have been infected with coronavirus so far, said the Doctors Foundation of the Bangladesh Physicians Forum (BDF). Three of them are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Center (ICU) of the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital.
The BDF believes that doctors are under attack due to the lack of disclosure of information about the disease, the lack of adequate quality protective clothing for doctors and the low number of coronary tests. The organization’s secretary general, Nirupam Das, said at first glance that the incidence rate for doctors in Bangladesh is high in the proportion of patients. If this continues, many more doctors will become infected and the service system may be threatened.
One of the three doctors seen in the ICU is an associate professor of gastro-oncology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, one is an assistant professor of medicine at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, and one is an orthopedic surgeon.
Another victim, including a vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, a doctor from the Department of Physical Medicine at Dhaka Medical College, a civil surgeon from Narayanganj, and a family welfare officer from Upazila, a doctor from the Hatia Upazila Health Complex in Noakhali .
Of these six people, another 20 doctors, nurses and health assistants from various government and private medical colleges and hospitals have been affected.
Mirzadi Sabrina Flora, director of the Institute of Pathology, Control and Research of Diseases (IEDCR), could not immediately say the number of victims. However, several health workers, including doctors, have been affected. Not everyone is affected when they go to the service. Rather, some have been attacked as part of the community, Mirzadi Sabrina said. However, he said those who are directly treating coronary patients at the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital are healthy.
Doctors request not to hide the symptoms of the disease.
To protect doctors, caregivers and other patients, authorities have asked patients not to hide the symptoms of the crown. Being highly contagious, patients with the disease are more likely to become infected without any preparation.
At the start of the coronavirus outbreak, a large number of doctors at a medical school hospital in Mirpur and medical services were detained at a private medical school and hospital in Dhanmondi.
Recently, a unit in the surgery department at Dhaka Medical College Hospital suffered the same problem. But the doctors wore protective clothing and are still working.
The head of the unit, Nazmul Haque, said Saturday that the infected patient went to Dhaka Medical School Hospital on April 3 to visit a private hospital. He complained of abdominal pain. Those with the patient told him that he could not sleep for six days. The chest was also part of the X-ray on the probe. Seeing this, they estimate that the patient has coronary symptoms. The patient’s relatives told them that they had given the sample before, to collect the sample. The man died on the way to Corona Hospital, where he was prescribed. Later, they learned that her funeral was held at home with people, keeping the illness a secret.
The doctor said they could have survived the trip because of the protective clothing, but there were other patients with the patient. They too are at risk of being attacked.
Today, Abul Kalam Azad, director general of the health department in the bulletin, said that regular symptoms of coronavirus had been reported, but that he had not heard of any treatment for the disease. The government has decided to provide safety clothing to all community clinics. So that patients do not hide the disease.
In addition, the Director-General announced that the scope of the review will be further improved.
