Unprecedented incidents have occurred in Chittagong, where 25 cases have been filed against Munir Hossain Khan, a former KDS Group official, in 12 months. The cases have been presented in different police stations and courts in Dhaka-Chittagong by different officials of the KDS Group. Munir’s father, wife and younger brother were also charged in some cases.

The family claims that the case was dismissed while he was working and that no charges have been brought against Munir. He has been promoted as a reward for making the organization profitable. But the embarrassment started after he quit his job and joined another company.

On June 20, 2016, Munir resigned as a director of KY Steel, a subsidiary of KDS Group. Case after case started after 5 months. Each case presented at intervals of two to ten days. There have even been two cases in one day. The first case was registered against Munir on November 25, 2019 at the city’s Bayezid Police Station. The last case was filed on November 15. So far, there have been a total of 24 cases, of which Munir has been granted bail in 20 cases. He has been in jail for the past year due to case after case.

Munir’s lawyers and family see the case of 25 cases against one person in just one year as unprecedented in the history of the judiciary in Bangladesh. They believe that these cases have been brought to harass Munir and his family.

Munir’s father, Moazzem Hossain Khan, said the allegations in all cases were almost the same. If the allegations were true, they could have filed all the indictments in the same case without as many cases. But instead of doing that, they have brought case after case just to harass us. He said the first case was filed against Munir on November 25, 2019 alleging car theft. Munir was in Dhaka that day and the car theft occurred in Chittagong. We have provided video footage to the court as evidence.

Munir’s attorney said the allegations in the 11/10 cases were exactly the same. Munir is said to have taken a secret commission from the supplier through an “attached commission agreement.” This accusation is completely false. The agreement format may not be the same with all providers. Munir’s elderly father and younger brother, with whom KDS has no connection, were charged in a Bayazid police station case. His wife has nothing to do with Munir’s work. But he was also charged in one case.

He added that every time the court looks at the cases, it realizes that they are fabricated. For this reason, bail was also granted. But then the plaintiff filed another similar case and issued an arrest warrant. Its purpose is to prevent Munir from getting out of jail in any way.
