A drunken father has beaten a 22-day-old boy to death in Phulbari, Dinajpur. The police arrested the father of the murderer Subhas Mahanta (28). The incident took place at 8 am on Thursday (November 28) at Baraihat in Aladipur, the union of Fulbari upazila. The arrested Subhas Mahanta is the son of Sunil Chandra Mahanta from the village. He is an easybike driver by profession.
Anamika Mahanta, the mother of the newborn, said that Subhash used to beat me for drug money. I have no refuge in my father-in-law’s house after fighting and fighting for three hours on Wednesday night. But even there, Subhash started hitting me dragging me and the baby. They took me out of the house at 8 a.m. on Thursday and took my baby from me. Then he entered the house, closed the door, beat the boy to death, and left.
Said the Phulbari Police Officer in Charge (OC). Fakhrul Islam said the body of the newborn was recovered from the scene and the killer Subhash Chandra Mahanta was arrested. A murder case has been filed at the Fulbari police station in this regard. The defendant Subhash Chandra Mahanta has been sent to jail.
