Thousands of supporters have demonstrated in Washington, DC, to deny the defeat of Republican candidate and incumbent President Donald Trump in the US presidential election. Opponents of apartheid have clashed with Trump supporters.
The demonstration was called the ‘Million Mega March’ on Saturday afternoon local time. President Donald Trump joined the rally with a caravan. As always, he complained that his electoral vote had been stolen.
On Saturday morning, November 14, people began to gather on the streets of Washington DC. US banners, festoons and flags with slogans like ‘Stop the Still’, ‘We Are Champion’, ‘Four More Years’, ‘Best President Ever’, etc.
People first gathered at Freedom Plaza near the White House. The procession then circled the area around the United States Supreme Court. President Trump paused for a moment on his way from the White House to the golf club. At the time, slogans were raised in support of Trump. Donald Trump greeted the demonstration with a handshake.
Throughout the day the situation was calm. But tensions between Trump supporters and Trump opponents have risen since late at night. The two sides collided.
So far, at least 20 people have been injured in the clashes, and one has been stabbed.
