17 rocket launchers recovered from the Satchhari forest

BGB recovered 18 rocket launcher shells from the deep Satchhari forest bordering Tripura in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district. The ammunition was recovered during a one-day operation on Tuesday. Confirming the matter at a press conference yesterday morning, BGB 55 battalion commander Lt. Col. SNM Samiunnabi Chowdhury said they were excavated in the Satchhari forest at a distance of 1.5 km from the border between Bangladesh and the India. Many older rocket launcher shells were wrapped in polyethylene. The BGB launched an operation in the deep forest Tuesday night on reports that some people had been traveling through the forest for several days and that there was ammunition there. At the end of the 10-hour operation, 18 rocket launchers were recovered. However, the BGB has not yet found out where such a large amount of ammunition came from in the forest. It should be noted that 334 artillery shells, 298 rocket magazines, 1 rocket launcher, 16 machine guns, 1 machine gun, 1 Betagan, 6 SLRs, 1 automatic rifle, 5 machine guns and approximately 1 more machine gun were fired from the same area in three phases of 1 June to September 16, 2014. The RAB recovered a large amount of ammunition, including bullets. On October 16 of the same year, 3 machine guns, 4 cannons, 6 magazines, 6 belts with a capacity of 250 bullets and 1 high-capacity radio were recovered. A day later, on October 17, 8,360 SMG and LMG rounds, 152 three-knot rifle rounds, 517 pistol rounds, and 425 machine gun rounds were recovered. In addition, 10 unique 40mm high anti-tank rockets were recovered on 2 February 2016. In the same year, 13 RPG explosives, 11 rocket launcher magazines and 13 rubber tubes were recovered from the same location. Last Tuesday night 16 rocket launchers were recovered.
