16 lakhs were seized when a bomb was detonated near the police station

In Jessore, a bomb exploded less than 100 meters from the police station during the day and at noon, snatching Tk 16 lakh. The incident took place in front of United Commercial Bank Limited (UCB) near the Jessore Kotwali model police station on Tuesday (September 29) at noon. Two people carrying money were injured in the stabbing and explosion of the bomb.

The injured have been identified as Enamul Haque, 35, son of Habibur Rahman from the Bakchar Hushtala area of ​​the city and brother of Iqbal Hossain, owner of Agmani Motors in the RN Road area, and Emon, 20, son of Imdadul from the same area. Enamul has been referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital because his condition is serious.

Witnesses and the injured said that Enamul and Emon arrived on a motorcycle Tuesday afternoon to deposit Tk 16 lakh from Agamni Motors with United Commercial Bank Limited (UCB). As soon as they got off the motorcycle in front of the bank, 7/8 masked men surrounded them.

The malefactors stabbed Enamul in the hands, abdomen and chest and took Tk 16 lakh from him. They then detonated a powerful bomb and fled by motorcycle down the alley in front of City Plaza.

The bomb broke the glass in the bank’s ATM booth. Emon was also injured at the time. Police rushed to the scene immediately after the incident. The two injured were rescued and taken to Jessore Medical College Hospital.

Abdur Rashid, a doctor in the hospital’s surgical department, referred Enamul to Khulna because her condition was critical. Emon has been given first aid.

The injured Emon complained that no one showed up even though there was a police presence nearby at the time of the incident.

Jessore Kotwali Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moniruzzaman said police rushed to the scene after receiving word of the theft. The police have launched an operation to catch the kidnappers. The entire incident is being investigated.
