In the last 24 hours, 14 people have died of coronavirus in Bangladesh. The total number of deaths was 263 people.
This information was provided in the Department of Health’s regular online coronavirus-related health bulletin on Thursday (May 14) at noon. The online newsletter was presented by the Additional Director General (Administration) of the Department of Health, Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana.
Dr. Nasima Sultana said the number of isolation beds in the country is 8,734. There are 2,900 in the Dhaka metropolis and 5,734 in different hospitals outside of Dhaka city. In addition, 500 isolation beds are being prepared at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and 200 more in the Mymensingh Nursing Room. Apart from this, the hospital preparation work is also underway.
Information on quarantine is also provided in the bulletin. In the last 24 hours, 3,031 people are said to have gone to home and institutional quarantine. At the same time, 2,296 people obtained exemption from quarantine. And so far a total of two lakh 30 thousand 73 people have been quarantined. And so far one lakh 74,759 people have obtained quarantine exemption. After launch, there are currently 46,014 people in home and institutional quarantine.
There are 618 institutions ready for institutional quarantine at the district and upazila levels across the country. According to the bulletin, 31,165 people can be served immediately through this.
According to the bulletin, in the last 24 hours, 151,502 calls have been received from the health department’s health window and the IEDCR hotline. Health tips have been given to everyone on these calls. So far, 52 lakh 16 thousand 57 people have received health advice on the hotline.
Incidentally, the first patient infected with the new coronavirus (Cavid-19) in the country was identified on March 8. On March 17, the first person to die from the coronavirus.
