On Tuesday, 130 British lawmakers sent a letter to Liu Xiaoming, China’s ambassador to Britain, demanding an immediate end to decades of Chinese persecution of Uighur Muslims. The letter was signed by members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

The letter directly accuses Beijing of “ethnic” genocide. Diplomats say letters from hundreds of British lawmakers will put a lot of pressure on Beijing.

British MPs wrote in the letter: “China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims must have been aimed at ethnic cleansing. This kind of torture is carried out in a planned way. Uighur Muslims are being persecuted in the same way as Uighur Muslims. Nazis in Germany Everything about how Uighur Muslims live in Xinjiang province must be made public, Beijing must take this step to allay world concerns.

More than a million Uighur Muslims living in Xinjiang province are being held in various detention camps in the name of “voluntary education centers” on charges of sedition and treason. Their religious beliefs are under attack. Uyghur Muslim women and children are also not immune from persecution by members and officials of the Chinese Communist Party.

However, the Chinese communist government has always denied allegations of persecuting Uighur Muslims. Beijing has claimed that the Chinese government has always protected the legitimate rights of ethnic minorities. Uighurs are treated the same as people in other parts of China.
