In Lalmohan Upazila, Bhola, 100 bags of rice were recovered from the government’s friendly food program. A supervising officer has filed a case against a Juba League leader in this incident.
The defendant in the case is Monir Matabbar. He is the joint coordinator of the Upazila Juba League. Distributor (Distributor) of the Food Friendly Program of Paschim Char Umed Union of the Upazila. He has been on the run since the incident.
According to the case file, police and local sources said the government is implementing various programs to help homeless people due to the coronavirus situation. But there were allegations of theft of rice in different areas of Lalmohan. In this situation, Bhola-3 (Lalmohan-Tajumuddin) MP MP Nurnnubi Chowdhury swore in the UP president, members, distributors and other leaders and workers from different areas of Lalmohan on April 21 to not steal relief rice. The dealer Monir Matabbar, joint coordinator of the Upazila Juba League, ignored him.
The distributor Monir Matabbar kept 100 bags of rice in his warehouse without selling it at a rate of Tk 10 per kg among the beneficiaries. Official Supervisor Union Assistant Lands Sunil Chandra Majumder may know this news. He closed the warehouse after discovering the truth of the incident and prohibited the distribution of rice without the permission and the presence of government officials. But the merchant withdrew 12 bags of rice. The supervising officer informed the Upazila administration about the matter. Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Habibul Hasan raided the police on Saturday afternoon.
UNO said 12 bags of rice were recovered from the home of the merchant Monir Matabbar in Sainik Bazar in Upazila. The remaining 6 bags of rice were found in his warehouse. Feeling the raid, Monir fled.
Lalmohan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mir Khairul Kabir said Supervisory Officer Sunil Chandra Majumder had presented a case at the police station. It has made the Monir dealer the only defendant in this. More legal action will be taken after the investigation.
