Comilla Deputy Commissioner Md. Abul Fazal Mir and the district police superintendent, Syed Nurul Islam, visited the site. Three members of the Hindu community have filed a case with the Bangra Bazar Police Station against the incident until 9:30 am today.

Previously, Bangra Bazar police arrested Shankar Debnath, 54, from Korbanpur village and Anil Bhowmik, 21, from Andikot village, on Saturday night for allegedly commenting on the status of Facebook. They were prosecuted under the Digital Security Act. They were sent to jail by the court yesterday.

Police from Bangra Bazar Police Station held a reconciliation meeting at Korbanpur GM High School yesterday afternoon to prevent any confrontation and violence in the area. Local residents attended. During the meeting, news came that Shankar Debnath’s house had been burned down. Later, the home of Union Parishad (UP) president Bankumar Shiva was also set on fire. At that time six houses were burned. However, no casualties were reported.
