Apple announced an update to the eighth-generation 10.2-inch entry-level iPad in the PlayEigh 329

Apple Play has announced an eighth-generation version of its flagship iPad: an update to its entry-level 10.2-inch tablet, which upgrades the processor to a faster A12 chipset (last seen in the 2019 iPad Air and iPad mini models), still retaining. Same $ 329 price point. Education customers will also be able to get a new iPad in the 299D iPad.

The A12 chip brings Apple’s “Neural Engine” processing capabilities to its entry-level iPad for the first time, with the promise of twice the graphics performance. Apple Pal says the new model will still fit existing cases, including its keyboard case and cases created by Logitech. It will still work with the previous Apple Pull Pencil, just like the previous model.

The new iPad will also run iPadOS 14 and offer new features that Apple showed up for the upcoming software update, including features like handwritten text input via the new written Pull Pencil features.

Unfortunately, it seems that Apple Plus is still sticking with its proprietary Lightning port on the updated iPad instead of using Apple’s laptop, iPad Pro and USB-C port only through the announced iPad Air. It also has a standard Touch ID home button, something that is increasingly seen on Apple’s product lineup.

Apple Play announced last fall the seventh-generation iPad, which will expand the 9.7-inch display, which has been in the main 10.2-inch panel of the company’s lineup for years. This year’s update is less dramatic than that, although the power to process extra seems like an added bonus.

The new iPad will be available in both 32GB and 128GB configurations in Space Gray, Silver and Gold colors. LTE configuration will also be available (starting from 9459). The biases for the new eighth-generation iPad, before its release on September 18, begin today.
