Johnny Depp and Amber Heard returned to a London court on July 20 in the Depp defamation case. The actor is suing News Group Newspapers, publisher of the UK Sun, over an article that called him a “handcuff puncher.”
The store relies on about a dozen Heard abuse allegations against her ex-husband to back up her claims.
So far, the court has heard explosive testimony from Depp, his assistant, and members of his security team. This week, Amber Heard is taking the position to tell her her version of events.
Amber Heard said that Johnny Depp tried to kill her.
At the beginning of the trial, Depp and his team described Heard as the abuser in their relationship, and shared accounts of his alleged aggressive behavior.
Depp told a story about the time she hit him in the face with a “tedder” hit, and there were stories of him locking himself in a bathroom to escape her. His team also revealed that Heard was responsible for cutting off his finger.
On July 20, Heard testified that Depp had an alter ego that he called “the monster.” According to the BBC, she said: “He would blame all his actions on a third party created by himself instead of himself, whom he often called ‘the monster’.”
Heard accused his ex of hitting, slapping, drowning, kneeling on her back, and hitting her in the head, and stated that he thought he would kill her “multiple times.”
“Some incidents were so severe that I feared that he would kill me, either intentionally or simply by losing control and going too far,” he said.
She told the court that during a trip to Australia in 2015, she suffered emotional and physical abuse for three days in a row. “It’s the worst thing I’ve been through. They cut my lip and nose and cut my arms.
Heard also said Depp accused her of having relationships with co-stars like Channing Tatum and Leonardo DiCaprio, and that he had insulting nicknames for them.
Why don’t fans believe in Amber Heard?
When it was her turn to be questioned on the other side, Heard had to listen to the recordings of the statement. She told Depp’s attorney Eleanor Laws that she was never violent with him.
When Laws played a recording of Heard admitting that he had hit and thrown pots and pans at Depp, he said he only did it to get away from him.
According to the Daily Mail, Heard also hinted that Los Angeles police lied when they claimed that she was not injured and that there was no property damage during an alleged incident that she and her friends reported in May 2016.
Fans focused on Heard’s testimony, saying that she backtracked on several of his statements. On Twitter, there is a thread with a transcript of her testimony, and some people are looking for lies.
One person wrote: “As a lawyer, I would like to ask AH if JD used a special technique to hit her, because given the abuse she describes, she would not be able to get out of bed for weeks, to say the least.”
Another tweeted: “This is so bad for #AmberHeard this morning in court that it’s not even ridiculous. She is testifying with different answers that were on the tape and even different answers than in her statement. Three separate accounts of the same incident. It is making itself look BAD. “
I heard lost fans in February
Heard is reported to have recorded private conversations between her and Depp during the course of their relationship.
Some of those recordings were used in a 2016 divorce filing, and Heard admitted to physically abusing Depp. At one point, she teased him and said that no one would believe him if he told someone who hurt him.
The audio leaked online and after listening to the hour-long YouTube video, some fans turned on Heard. They released “Justice For Johnny Depp” online and asked that Heard be fired from the movie roles. The trial against the Sun continues all week.
