Amber Heard may have attacked her sister once, and there is a video to prove it, Johnny Depp’s attorneys claimed Friday in an explosive twist at his London libel trial.
Depp’s attorney, David Sherborne, notified the court that his team had received images Thursday night that showed Heard’s sister, Whitney Henríquez, with bruises on her face and body shortly after the alleged assault.
“We were contacted to explain that Amber Heard has a history of violence and attacks on people,” Sherborne told the judge after asking Henríquez, who is due to return to the stand today, to wait outside the courtroom during the disclosure.
“The material, we say, shows that Whitney Heard lied yesterday,” said Sherborne, who wants the surprise video to be admitted, according to the Evening Standard. “It goes to the question of whether Ms. Heard was violent or not.”
Sherborne also asked the judge to ban the “Justice League” actress, who was in the gallery, from “using her phone” to communicate with her sister.
But the judge said he had no reason to believe Heard had failed to follow instructions not to speak to his sister about his testimony.
Henríquez testified Thursday that Heard had never attacked her and denied being “scared” or “cautious” with her sister, according to the newspaper.
She said she once saw Depp grab Heard by the hair and hit her repeatedly on the head.
It is unclear whether the judge will let the alleged video in.
Depp is suing The Sun newspaper for calling him a “handcuff puncher” in a 2018 article based on Heard’s allegations.
He has denied abusing his then-wife during their wildly tumultuous relationship, calling her “sociopath”.
