Although most expected the twins to be skinny from Alabama, James and Tommy Brockermeyer haven’t given much clue to their intentions, and they are legacies from Texas. Suddenly, they tweeted yesterday that they planned to get engaged today, and right then, they are now joining Alabama’s 2021 recruiting class.
The Tide pulled the elite duo away from LSU, Texas and Auburn despite the recent boost from the Tigers’ national championship and that the Longhorns are the inherited choice.
Tommy is a 5-star consensus prospect, the best offensive tackle in the nation, and a top-5 player overall. James is a 4 star and top 200 player, but he is the # 1 center overall, a position that never gets a high ranking.
Both players are still on the light side for an offensive SEC lineman, but they absolutely have the frame to grow to 290-300 lbs. His father was an American tackle who played 9 years in the pros, and his older brother, Luke, is already a linebacker in Texas.
Tommy’s engagement gives Alabama three 5-star prospects, and Tide’s class now ranks sixth in the nation despite having at least 2 fewer commitments than any of the teams above them.
And to think, just a couple of months ago, we were all concerned that Nick Saban had only one commitment.
