A further 1,897 COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths were reported Monday in Utah


SALT LAKE CITY – The number of UV covid-19 cases rose 1,897 on Monday, according to the Utah Department of Health.

The Department of Health estimates that there are 60,539 active cases of the disease in Utah. The average number of seven-day positive cases is currently 2,312, according to the health department. The day’s positive test rate for that period is now 21.5%. State data shows that there are currently 560 Kovid-19 patients hospitalized in Utah.

The new numbers indicate a 1% increase in positive cases since Sunday. In Utah, 1,423,079 people have been tested for Covid-19 so far, with 13.8% having tested positive for the disease.

The state has seen an increase in the 4,852 tests taken as of Monday. According to the Department of Health, lower testing total potential is due to the closure of testing centers over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

In Utah, 560 people have been hospitalized for Covid-19, 205 are currently in intensive care unit beds, state data show. As of Monday, 83% of all ICU beds have been filled, including about 90% in Utah’s referral hospitals, which have 16 facilities in the state that have the capacity to provide the best COVID-19 care, according to the health department.

State data show that currently about 47% of non-ICU hospital beds are occupied.

The three deaths reported on Monday:

  • A man from Utah County, aged between 45 and 64, was hospitalized when he died.
  • A woman from Utah County, aged 65 to 84, was hospitalized when she died.
  • A Washington Washington County woman who was over 85 years old and was hospitalized after her death

The Covid-19 news conference scheduled for Monday is not. Governor of Utah. Gary Herbert has media availability at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, according to his office.

Method:

Test results now include data from PCR tests and antigen tests. Positive COVID-19 test results are reported to the health department immediately after confirmation, but negative test results cannot be reported for 24 to 72 hours.

The number of cases reported daily by the Utah Department of Health includes all cases of Covid-19 because of the outbreak in Utah, currently those who are infected, those who have recovered from the disease and those who have died.

Definition of a retrieved case Anyone who was diagnosed with Covid-19 three or more weeks ago and did not die.

Deaths reported by the state are usually reported two to seven days earlier, according to the health report. Some deaths may be later, especially if the person is from Utah but has died in another state.

The Department of Health reports both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases of death, as defined by Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. Death counts may change once case investigation is completed.

For deaths reported as Covid-19 deaths, according to the Department of Health, if the person did not have Covid-19, the person would not have died.
