General Motors has revealed new details about its upcoming electric models, including interesting information about two trucks.
The automaker’s latest sustainability report includes a page dedicated to launching new battery-powered vehicles that will begin next year.
Following the pickup version of the GMC Hummer EV that was featured in a 2020 Super Bowl commercial with LeBron James, GMC will unveil an SUV version of the full-size truck with off-road capability. The platform on which both will be built will be available with a three-motor configuration that offers 1,000 hp and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph in three seconds.
Along with the Hummers, Chevrolet will receive a Silverado 1500-size electric van that doesn’t have a name yet, but will be offered with a battery big enough to provide 400 miles of range.
GM has confirmed that the Hummer truck will be in showrooms in late 2021, but has not announced dates for the SUV or Chevy truck. Assuming the Chevy arrives in 2022 or later, it can face competition from an electric Ford F-150 that is underway, alongside the Tesla Cybertruck, which the company says will be offered in a model with more than 500 miles of range.

In addition to trucks, the report confirms that Chevy is sourcing compact and midsize electric utility vehicles, while Buick is configured for a function-focused SUV and also a sleeker CUV, which may or may not be sold in the U.S.
Cadillac appears to be the destination for most of GM’s battery production, with the Lyriq mid-tier two-row SUV to be unveiled soon, a mid-tier three-row SUV, an entry-level compact SUV, an Escalade- Full-size SUV styling and the flagship Celestiq sedan. The Celestiq will be built by hand at a rate of just 1.2 cars per day and will reportedly cost more than $ 200,000.
