After more than 11 years in Zalando, “I want to give more time to my growing family,” Ritter said in a statement. He added, “My wife and I have agreed that for years to come, his professional ambitions should take precedence.”
The statement did not provide further details about Ritter’s wife or his career. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Ritter has led Zalando since 2010, along with two other co-CEOs – Robert Gentz and David Snyder.
The number of senior-level women in the United States is on the rise, according to the annual report on the workplace of McKinsey & Co. and Linine.org. But women are also three times more likely to do most of the housework and childcare, and they report on how this will affect their performance at work.
Zalando, which has about 36 million active subscribers and operates in 17 European countries, had revenues of about 8 1.85 billion (2. 2.2 billion) in the three months ended September.
