Zack Snyder shares new radiance to his Justice League Steppenwolf
In the extended edition of Batman V Superman, one of the biggest and coolest sequel teas was Steppenwolf. Shown as a crypto-style structure hologram in monochrome, he showed a scary, demonic silhouette. But because he looked sculpturely out of metallic sand, as these space holos do, details were difficult to determine. Without a doubt, as part of a mandate to brighten up the film, Joss Whedon made him less monstrous. He did so for the most part laying out the horns as if wearing just a helmet by a tall, gray man with neck gloves. Seeing the opportunity to revisit and recreate his own vision, Zack Snyder recreated the monster version, and today revealed on Vero an early peek at his non-hologram Justice League Steppenwolf.
His original, full size post is available HERE. Clearly, Darkseid’s uncle is back to a satanic hellbeast form that would give the current Ciaran Hinds version nightmares. He looks more like a creature of the Japanese Devilman manga then all of Jack Kirby.
Snyder previously revealed that he will recreate scenes of Darkseid in his cut, including some that presented Steppenwolf instead in the theater. Steppenwolf, however, still likely appears to be the main villain, as Darkseid for the most part had to be placed for a potential sequel.
Do you agree with the new-old monster Steppenwolf? Or is a more human version fittingly closer to the comics? Send a tree tube down to comments below and let us hear your thoughts.
