YouTube starts rolling up its ticket ok rival, YouTube shorts

Just as Instagram did with Reels, YouTube is rolling out a new short-form video creator called YouTube Shorts that the company hopes will get a little attention from ticket ok.

Reports of YouTube’s short form video creator tool came out several months ago, but now the company is launching an initial beta in India. Like Ticket OK, shorts allow people to create 15-second videos that can be set to music. Music is available “through in-product music picker feature,” a YouTube spokesperson said. Edge. Picker has “currently has 100,000 tracks and we are working with music artists, labels and publishers to make more of their information available to continue expanding our catalog.”

These videos will appear on the homepage in a row dedicated to shorts, the company announced in a blog post today. An example of how shorts will look can be seen below.

YouTube will try to get as many people as possible to use its new shorts feature, and it will include new “create” icon spots that will be clearly visible in the app. With the plan to bring the icon to iOS devices soon, the “Create” icon will be rotated with the shorts beta on Android. A spokesman for YouTube said there was no estimate of when the shorts could appear in other countries, including the United States.

One of the opportunities that YouTube’s announcement posters are trying to publish for creators is what YouTube provides. The site has more than 2 billion monthly users, keeping in mind that “we want to enable the next pay of mobile creators to also develop a community on YouTube with shorts.”

“We’ve really put the stories on YouTube and we’ve really seen our creators really engage with the stories,” CEO Susan Wozniacki told NBC News’ Dylan Byers in an episode of her podcast. “It will be an example of really short form content. So we will continue to innovate in a variety of format sizes, including various short-form videos. “

The Instagram team appears to have similar goals with its ticket ok clone, Reels, but the immediate response to the feature has not been positive. Narratively, many of the videos that appear in the reels (from non-participating influencers and brands) are direct re-uploads of other ticket ok videos I see. But, arguably, Instagram was never the first video entertainment-platform; Is YouTube. The company hopes that considering people already coming to YouTube for short video entertainment, shorts will be another way to keep people on the site longer and continue to upload both existing and new creators.
