YouTube Music for Android tests Now playing sliders

Just before the transition from Play Music, YouTube Music redesigned the Now Playing screen on Android. Google is now testing swipe gestures on the YouTube music player for more intuitive control.

This new feature allows you to swipe the cover to skip to the next song and presumably return. The gesture would join others to open / close Now Playing and Up Next. (Speaking of that screen, it’s unfortunate that it can’t slide to the Lyrics and Related tabs. Of course, it would conflict with the ability to slide songs out of the queue.)

Like other YouTube Music features, swipe gestures in Now Playing are not yet widely implemented. Until now, it has only been reported by one user (through Android Police) It’s a highly requested feature that matches the old Google Play Music player, although that slider area almost takes up the entire screen.

Meanwhile, the Play Music migration continues as more and more users receive the functionality. Now Playing has not been released on iOS yet, although the Explore tab is now available to everyone.
