Young adults have the most coronavirus infections in CT

CONNECTICUT – Connecticut residents in their 20s have the most cases of coronavirus from any age group. New data from the state Department of Public Health showed 90 people between the ages of 20 and 29 tested positive for the virus between August 2-8. The age group with the following most cases were people in their 30s with 79 cases.

People in their 20s also had the most number of cases when they were adjusted by population.

“People in their 20s had the largest amount of positive test results during the week, followed by people in their 30s and 40s,” said Gov. Ned Lamont.

Connecticut had another 76 cases of coronavirus reported Thursday from more than 8,000 test results. That keeps the state’s positive test rate below 1 percent.

No new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Thursday. Non-hospitalizations increased by five patients to 63.

Connecticut has reported 50,782 cases of coronavirus since the pandemic began in March and 4,450 deaths.
