You have 24 hours to get ‘A Total War Story: Troy’ for free

I’m a big fan of the Total War franchise, and two games in particular—Total War: Warhammer 2 en Total War: Three Kingdoms– are the absolute best of the best. While the latest installation in the franchise, A Total War Story: Troy, is not quite up to their level of detail, strategy and chaos, there is one incredibly redeeming quality to this game: It’s free.

At least, it’s free if you hurry and take advantage of today’s offer in the Epic Games store. In honor of the release of the game, you can get it for the low price of nothing – a sentence we rarely get a chance to say because who gives away their game on launch day for free?

The Windows version of the game should go live on the Epic Games store at 9 a.m. ET (6 p.m. PT), at which time the 24-hour countdown will begin. (Mac users would download their version of the game there later, and they will also have 24 hours to get it free.)

you can activate your free copy via the web or the downloadable Windows or Mac app from Epic Games – I have the latest preference – and that’s all you need to do. You do not have to download and install the game directly; just “buy” it as much as any of the other free titles from the Epic Games Store. This is the button you are looking for in the game list:

While the launch of A Total War Story: Troy probably not the Epic Games Store will close completely, as of the mid-May free release of Grand Theft Auto V the, I would recommend activating your copy sooner rather than later (just in case).

The version you get tomorrow will also include no multiplayer. You can get that for free too, but it will arrive as part of a larger update later this year. You can owe quarantine life for it. And hey, this will give you a lot of time to practice Total war trainings, cavalry costs, and any other tactics you need to avoid being stunned by the computer or your friends.
