WARNING: This article contains spoilers from all seasons of Yellowstone

Yellowstone focuses on the fortunes of the Dutton family and their ranch, which is said to be the largest in America.

Along with the main members of the Dutton clan, the show also features characters such as Rip Wheeler (played by Cole Hauser) and Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White).

In recent episodes, fans have seen a softer side to Rip, after Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) decided to give her romance another shot.

Beth even introduced Rip with a ring when she tried to prove her love for him.

Before that, Rip mainly served as patriarch John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) muscle and got things done by force.

Many have questioned her about Rip’s background and where he came from before working for the Duttons.

Unfortunately, Rip had a tragic upbringing that saw him kill his abused stiffness after he attacked his mother.

The locals owed the teenager and brought him a ‘monster’, calling John to sort out the wild youth.

Along with a troubled relationship with Beth, Rip also had a complex dynamic with John’s youngest son Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).

Actor Grimes spoke in the behind-the-scenes, explaining, “Rip and Kayce, they’ve raised a problem with each other.”

He went on to say, ‘John took Rip in and he became kind of a father figure. The difference between the two boys is that I remove from my dad while [he’s] always on his side. ”

Grimes explained this love / hate relationship between the two men, saying, “They’ve always hated each other.”

The American actor added: “The whole purpose of Rip is what is best for John.”

While star Hauser said, “There’s a fraternity there, but there’s some anger.”

Hauser said of the skirmish between Rip and Kayce: “They get kicked and they get back on their horses and they’re like, ‘I’ll get him the next day or month from now.'”

He went on to explain: “Rip has mistrust that he is not here for his family.”

The star said: “Rip wants Kayce to understand what he is against and I think what Kayce has not realized is that when you come back and become part of this family, there will be a lot on your shoulders. ”
