Yefet Cotto, ‘Alien’ actor and Bond Bedi, dies at 81



Colto died March 10 at 10:30 pm local time in the Philippines, where he lived with his wife, Goldher said. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Work on Cotto’s screen non-screen body began in the late ’60s and remained stable in the’ 90s. During that time, he collected an array of memorable roles that speak to his changing talents.

His notable film works include “Alien,” “The Running Man,” “Midnight Run,” and “Live and Let Die,” in which he played the iconic Bond villain Mr. Big.

On television, his longest running role was as Lieutenant Al Giardello on NBC’s “Cow Slaughter: Lifestyle on Life”.

“Yafet Cotto. My mom’s favorite,” wrote director Av Duvernay Twitter. “He’s one of those actors who deserved more than the parts he got. But he took those parts and made them all great. One star. Nice, nice. Nice.”
Television producer David Simon Added: “Memories and respect for Yafet Cotto, whose film career was great even before he came to Baltimore to grace our television drama. But for me it will always be El Giardolo On. ”
