Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Series X event is set to be the biggest and most exciting yet. During the company’s Xbox 20/20 event in July, Microsoft will showcase a series of first-party Xbox Series X games, including Halo Infinite. The company can also use the program to unveil the next-generation Xbox all-digital. A Microsoft executive scoffed at what to expect, and it seems fans are in for a great show. Since we haven’t seen our own Xbox Series X games for extended gaming sessions yet, this could mean that is what we are getting into the show. Of course, we will have to wait and find out.
Xbox Marketing Director Aaron Greenberg, who heads the planning for these events, said on Twitter that Microsoft conducted an internal review of the event this week with Phil Spencer. The Microsoft team is “working hard,” but Greenberg said the company is not yet ready to announce more details, such as a date or a summary of what will be shown during the show.
“The team works hard on it,” Greenberg told a Twitter fan who asked for an update. “A good content review today, in fact, with the big boss. We will share more details when everything is locked. Please be patient in the meantime.”
Microsoft’s first Xbox 20/20 show in May focused on third-party games, such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The show did not live up to expectations, and Greenberg acknowledged that Microsoft set the wrong expectations for the event. It’s understandable that fans are looking for a stronger event in July, and with Halo Infinite in the lead, it looks like Microsoft is ready to deliver the products.
Halo Infinite is the first main entry in the series since the 2015 Xbox One game Halo 5: Guardians. Microsoft created a completely new engine, Slipspace Engine, for Halo Infinite, and the company promises to offer an exciting new experience with the game.
Microsoft now operates 15 game studios, and they’re all working on titles for Xbox Series X. In addition to 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite, we know that Ninja Theory is making Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 for Xbox Series X using Unreal Engine 5, while El Sea of Thieves developer Rare is making a new game called Everwild. Additionally, Microsoft’s new studio, The Initiative, has sparked a new project by the Red Dead Redemption writer. Some of the rumored Xbox Series X games include Fable 4 and a new Forza title.
We will report more details on the Xbox 20/20 event for July when they are announced.
