One of the biggest disadvantages of Project xCloud at the moment is that it uses your single Xbox Live presence point, which means that when you sign in to your phone you can sign out on other devices. For some family-run setups, this ignores one of the best cases to use for xCloud: let your family watch Netflix or Disney + on your console while you get your game with your phone or tablet. Fortunately, that is changing.
Recently, we saw evidence that Microsoft has teamed up to lift this limitation on Xbox Live, allowing you to have multiple presence points across different devices and platforms.
You can still only launch games on one device at a time with your account, but this new system means you can play the best Xbox One games via cloud streaming on your phone without having to log out of your consoles. This means you can continue streaming apps and services like Netflix, YouTube, Disney +, or Microsoft’s own Movies & TV on the same account while using Project xCloud on your phone.

It’s a relatively small adjustment for the system, but removing the restriction adds a lot of extra usability to Project xCloud, especially in households where field battles over the TV are common. This feature is currently undergoing some internal testing, and will likely be unveiled ahead of Project xCloud’s September 13 launch date, which comes bundled with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and should have “more than 100” games.
It will not be long before we get more details about the future of Microsoft’s Project xCloud. The streaming wars between Microsoft, Google and others are also just getting started.
