WWE SummerSlam: Bayley vs. Asuka – SmackDown Women’s Championship


This year’s WWE SummerSlam kicks off the SmackDown Women’s Championship between Bayley and Asuka. This would be Asuka’s first match, as she will later face Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Asuka started by hitting Bayley with shots to the shoulder and then a drop kick, followed by kicks to the body. Asuka remained offended as they fought on the bypass and Asuka hit a dive DDT off the stairs, but Bayley was finally able to turn things around.

Bayley hit a Bayley to belly suplex about 10 minutes into the match, but Asuka was able to kick the pin from the pin. Asuka turned things around with a running hip attack, knee to face, suplex and another hip attack, but Bayley stepped out of the pin attempt. Bayley took it in stride as she pushed Asuka’s knees into the ring. Bayley then hit a kettle block and then applied a submission of the footlight, but Asuka broke out. Bayley accused Asuka, but Asuka caught her with a codebreaker (double knee) before attempting a pin. Asuka went for a drop kick, but Bayley moved and locked in a knee injury, but Asuka made it to the bottom sail. Bayley did a sunset to drive the back of Asuka’s head into the vortex. Bayley went for the diving elbow, but Asuka caught her and twisted her arm, but the movement was broken due to the distraction of Sasha Banks. Bayley almost rolled on Asuka because of Banks’ distraction. Asuka accused Bayley, but Bayley moved and Asuka hit Banks. With this, Bayley Asuka was able to roll up to win the match. Banks and Bayley attacked Asuka after the game.
