WWE SmackDown Results, Review, Comments (Aug 14, 2020): Trust

Alright, I’ll try to figure out what I just saw.

Braun Strowman can teleport, Alexa Bliss beat him like crazy, and the Enemy … tried to save her?

Let’s break it.

Braun came out now, naked and said that the Fiend knew exactly what he was going to get at SummerSlam, because he is the worst son of a bitch that anyone on this earth has ever laid eyes on, and he called out the Fiend for his fears to deal with. so he can eat his entrails. Gory stuff.

Alexa answered the call instead and got into the ring when Braun kept staring ahead. She wanted answers from him about his comments last week about not caring about her because they have been friends for years. Braun said she used him, and anyone who comes in contact with the Enemy changes.

That Alexa told him to be careful what he wanted for, told him to look at her and SLAPPED him then. Werhelle. He picked them up, and then the Enemy appeared.

And Brown … disappeared. Brown appeared on the throne and laughed, the Enemy laughed back, and Alexa was on the floor. The show ended with the classic Fiend abbreviated.

That .. is this a double whammy? I’m really confused.

I do not know how I still feel about this, because the thought of the Fiend as a babyface is strange. But because the story is currently being presented … yes no, I do not like that. What are your opinions on this?

PISS

AJ said there’s a lot going on at the moment, but they have more pressing issues than hooligans refurbishing the ring (seriously. THIS’s how they present RETRIBUS), like whoever ran for the IC title the war. It shouldn’t matter, but because of Daniel Bryan, he needs to become a fighting champion. He just wants to hang out and enjoy his reign and stream on Twitch, but everyone always throws out suggestions for who he should defend the title with, with all these statistical reasons why.

But he loves stats in sports, so he’s a handsome nerd. That he hired the Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistic System.

PISS. Hahaha!

That he had a whiteboard out, and he referred to himself as no. 1 on the list for the IC title, and # 2 … NO ONE! (I really did baby for that reveal, even though I knew it was coming.)

And then Jeff Hardy came out and said he did not get a fair chance for the title, and it’s a special title for him. He said that Jeff vs. AJ is mega cool, and AJ says hell no. That Jeff attacked him and now we have a title game next week.

Now, as you know, I hope Big E was the one to go against AJ for the title at SummerSlam, but here we are. However, it makes sense because Jeff Daniel Bryan had to face in a qualifying match before Sheamus rammed him into a hit and run and never went to jail. I highlighted more for Hardy’s great TNA reunion, Styles, and Joseph Park’s WWE debut! If you did not know, Joseph Park was Abyss in TNA. I’m not a big TNA / IMPACT fan, but I love Abyss and a few others from a few years ago.

No build for this, because we’ll get the title contest next week, before SummerSlam. That’s a strange choice.

RETRIBUTION causes chaos

That said, RETRIBUTION caused a lot more chaos on this show, but it’s weird.

The lights were really turned on, and they showed people running away and hitting Big E and Morrison. This is better presentation than we’ve seen, but I’m still eh … Let me explain.

Sheamus told security to amscray for his match and they did not take advantage of it. Later, they destroyed the backstage area and attacked some referees. I liked that part more, but I think it would have been better not to have them so much in the corner of The Fiend and Strowman.

I’m still not sold here, but we’ll inevitably see them back on Raw and I do not really like them picking and choosing their spots. It seemed silly not to interest her in Sheamus’ match, as when AJ called her hooligans. They must be these anarchists and problem makers.

WWE is not investing in this corner as they should. It causes me to care nothing.

The rest

Asuka wins the battle royally – It’s a shame that my feed for the show during this match worked completely incorrectly and I saw very few parts of it. Here’s what I liked about what I saw.

Bianca Belair and Tamina had a really fun show. Comments overshadowed the great fact that Bianca got the biggest woman in the ring, and personally I would love a wanderlust and she won. But I did not get that. The other thing I liked was Sasha and Bayley interfered and Shayna got Asuka out of the ring but she got on Sasha and Bayley on the floor after they attacked her.

And that’s all I saw. But my feelings about winning Asuka are that I am trembling. Asuka has been the MVP of the timeless crowd and I love her in both feuds with Sasha and Bayley, but we have many other women around who are not exalted. Like I said, I would love to win Bianca as a surprise, but I get what she does with Asuka. Shall we see two belts?

Sheamus def. Chad Gable – What I thought would be the theme of the night, Sheamus told security stationed by gorilla to clock out and get a pint, and … they listened to him. Paid security listen to a rando because he said he has it? Yes, that’s stupid.

Gable tried his best with some fun crossfaces and the work of Sheamus’ leg, including a missile dropkick for a 2 count. A white sound and Brogue Kick put him away. And that was it. No RETRIBUT.

How stupid does that make them look, when they have not seen most of their run so far ridiculously, that security LINKS and they have no advantage?

Big E is beautiful – Again, my feed last night was super out of control, but I just want to say I love Big E. His promo after RETRIBUTION attacks was so wonderful and I’m glad to see (thanks to Claire) that he won the game without interference. Then he was Brogue Kicked by Sheamus and I’m sad because it reminded me that I’m not a Big E vs. Get styles. Sheamus and E are not really up to me. Maybe that will change, but we’ll see.

Gran Metalik def. Shinsuke Nakamura – Before the match, LHP stole the artists’ tag titles backstage, and then they accidentally ran out with them without being chased. Cesaro and Nakamura did that sitcom “look back, look each other, look back” thing, because that’s what people normally do, right?

My feed kept sucking during the game, but Kalisto came back and helped win the LHP. I wonder if Kalisto is helping her win the tag titles. I enjoy the artists, but I have not seen their reign long.

SmackDown was decent, but I really did not like much of it sadly. I wanted to see that women’s fight combative and of course I did not get the most out of it. I’m interested in Mandy and Sonya doing a hair-to-hair contest at SummerSlam. The Universal Title Program is… something. I do not know where the alignments are and I do not know what role Alexa will play. But I feel she will play a role in SummerSlam.
