Woman sentenced to 5 years for fatal butt injection

A Dallas woman was sentenced to five years in prison in Missouri for killing a nightclub dancer by giving her an illegal cosmetic butt injection.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 49-year-old Nitika Devante Lee was convicted Thursday of involuntary manslaughter in the 2015 death of Dayasha Phillips.

Prosecutors said Lee drove from her Dallas home to a hotel in Edmondson, a suburb near St. Louis’s main airport, where she injected liquid silicone. Phillips, who was 22, four days later the silicone entered his bloodstream and got trapped in his lungs.

There were three other people with Phillips. One was confirmed, and the other two who received the injection did not appear to have had any adverse effects, police said at the time.

Lee, who previously spent time in prison on charges of robbery, burglary and theft, was charged a few months after Phillips’ death. But she was a fugitive for five years before being arrested by Dallas police in July. Prosecutors said she spent some time in Mexico.
