A woman fell from a roller coaster at an amusement park in France over the weekend.
The woman fell from Parc Saint Paul’s Formula One roller coaster “while it was running” at 1:45 pm local time on Saturday, according to a park statement shared with NBC News.
Park staff responded immediately and outside doctors followed, said the statement from the park, which is located in Oise, about 80 kilometers north of Paris.
The teams “tried in vain to revive the victim, who sadly died on the spot,” the statement said. No one else was injured.
The park’s Formula One area was closed, and park teams assisted witnesses.
“We are all very sad about this situation. Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family and family,” said a statement shared in French by Parc Saint Paul on Twitter. “We are collaborating with the authorities to understand what happened.”
The trips were inspected by the security commission on June 15, according to the statement. The park reopened after closure due to the coronavirus pandemic on June 6.
Local media reported that the victim was a 32-year-old woman visiting the park to celebrate her son’s birthday.
Police is on the case. The department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from NBC News.
Local media also reported that another woman died after being kicked off the same ride, described by the park as “a fabulous ‘Air Time’ race and ‘accessible to the entire family’, in 2009. And the malfunction in the walk led to more than a dozen wounded in 2005.
