The second domino of prospects within the “Super Six” state has dropped and this time the Wisconsin Badgers are not the winners. The Penn State Nittany Lions made their way in the state and received the commitment of one of the “Super Six”.
Jerry Cross, who is listed as a wide receiver or tight end depending on where you look at him or where you currently see him as a player, is a four-star recruit for Milwaukee Rufus King. The 6 foot 6 and 218 pounds. The prospect plays a great receiver for the Generals, but is seen as a potential tight end at the next level due to his size and frame to grow.
In ten games last season, Cross had 28 catches for 533 yards and 11 touchdown catches. Cross chose the Nittany Lions over offers from Michigan, the state of Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, the state of Iowa, Purdue and northern Illinois.
Several Badgers recruits, both 2021 and 2022, were trying to convince Cross to stay home with support tweets, but in the end he was determined to go to State College. 2022 four-star safety Braelon Allen, who is the first member of the Badgers class for that year, spoke online about Cross and said this after the announcement was made.
With so much time before National Signature Day 2022, the smart money is in that this recruitment is not over yet.
Now that two of the “Super Six” are off the board, the Badgers coaching staff will draw on the remaining four class members in the state: Whitefish Bay OT Joe Brunner, St. Croix Central OL Carson Hinzman, Sun Prairie EDGE Isaac Hamm, and St. Mary’s Springs (Fond du Lac) DL Billy Schrauth.
