Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 update kerfuffle is giving people more negative reinforcement to download company updates. It is slowing down the PCs.
According to Windows Latest, Windows update KB4559309 is claimed to be connected to slower performance on some PCs. Oh, and it’s not like I can easily opt out, as KB4559309 is automatically installing for many, helping Microsoft deliver Chromium Edge to everyone in Windows 10.
The slow performance reports were originally posted on the Microsoft forums. User PaulWaite1 wasted no words, with his post titled “Update KB4559309 makes the computer unbearably slow.”
It gets worse as he writes, “Since then my computer’s performance has completely plummeted. My startup time is probably triple, loading any window takes a few seconds delay.” Also, you can’t uninstall the update, making things worse, with the final nightmare: “This update has essentially disabled my new computer.”
This is the latest Windows 10 update failure, which is giving everyone a bad impression of Microsoft QA.
What to do about it
While we often recommend people to uninstall misbehaving Windows 10 updates, that can’t be done here.
So the first option is manually download chrome based border yourself. This will reportedly prevent KB4559309 from automatically hitting your system.
Alternatively, your next best option is to use the Windows 10 System Restore feature. Full details can be found. here , under “Restore from a system restore point”.
