Wild week of college football as told through hilarity of these 15 memes

It seems months ago that the SEC announced the two additional conference opponents to the upcoming football schedule.

Hawar, it was only seven days ago.

A lot has happened since then on the college football landscape.

If the SEC thought it would carry the news of the weekend, that thought quickly disappeared as an easy win on the Arkansas schedule.

The decision of the Mid-American conference on Saturday to cancel football soon led to speculation that Power 5 conferences were not far behind.

College football players across the country, led by Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, flooded social media with calls to play this season. Their voices sparked the #WeWantToPlay movement. Coaches, ADs and administrators contributed to the cause.

It did not do much good, as the Big Ten canceled its fall football season on Tuesday amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and became the first Power 5 conference to close. The Pac-12 did not follow long after.

Despite those moves, the Big 12 adopted a ‘9 + 1 ″ scheme and plans, like the SEC and ACC, to play this fall.

Amidst it all, Scott Frost of Nebraska and Ryan Day of Ohio State made not-so-subtle remarks about finding alternative plans for the fall, and the Big Ten bucking decision. Since then they have been standing.

With so much to earn, the meme game proves – again – one of the more entertaining ways to really capture the mood of the news.

There’s no better way to start the weekend than with a laugh if there’s no college football in the woods.
