Wild season 2020 begins with restricted Rangers victory

The 2020 MLB baseball season started tonight for the Texas Rangers and with it came the first official baseball game on The Shed. It will never be normal when we return to this one, but we will forever remember that the Rangers opened their new park with a 1-0 victory in some of the strangest circumstances in the history of the sport, while daring not to hit.

Honestly, that suits the Texas Rangers as a franchise.

The first thing from your shed:

We will have to wait for that first donger.

Game player: Lance Lynn picked up where he left off last season, albeit with a bigger beard, a few more pounds, and a few command problems to solve. Although he walked four Rockies, he also struck out nine and went through six two-hitter baseball innings.

The Rangers in 2020 are generally only going to win baseball games if their rotation keeps them in the games. The races can be few and far between, so the launch will only have to be better than the other boys.

Tonight, that’s exactly what Lynn accomplished (plus a trio of Jesse Chavez, Jonathan Hernandez, Leclerc off the boom), and the Rangers showed the blueprint a bit.

Until next time: The Rangers and Rockies will meet again for the second game of this series with LHP Mike Minor ready to face Texas against RHP Jon Gray for Colorado. The first release of The Shed is scheduled for 3:05 pm CT.
