Widow of ex-police captain killed by riots by St. Louis speaks

The widow of a retired police captain who was killed earlier this year by rioters in St. Petersburg.

“Violence and destruction are not legitimate forms of protest. They do not protect black lives. They are destroying them, ‘said Ann Dorn.

The mourning widow burst into tears as she recounted the night of June 2, when her 77-year-old husband David Dorn was murdered in front of a pawn shop he was trying to protect from looters, in a shooting that took place live. streamed on Facebook.

‘When I slept, looters looted the store. “They shot and killed Dave in cold blood and live streamed the execution and his last moments on this earth,” said Dorn.

“Dave’s grandson watched the video in real time on Facebook, not realizing he saw his own grandfather die on the porch.”

Dorn described learning of her husband’s death at 4 a.m. when St. Louis came to her door to give her the terrible news.

“I relive that horror in my mind every day,” she said. “My hope is that you will experience this with me again now. This country will help shake off the nightmare we are witnessing in our cities and bring about positive, peaceful change.”

“How did we get to this point where so many young people are so passionate and indifferent to human life?” She asked.

Dorn said, however, President Trump understands the value of communities with people like her husband, who spent half of his life on the Missouri force.

“At a time when police departments are short on resources and manpower, we need that help. We have to accept that help, ‘she said sadly.

“We must heal before we can influence change, but we cannot heal in the midst of destruction and chaos. President Trump knows we need more Davids in our communities, not less. ”
