In the history of 90 Day Fiancé, Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno don’t seem to get their families to get along. On the rare occasions when the two families get together, she generally seems to end up in a drama-filled situation. Chantel and Pedro go to the Dominican Republic and Chantel’s family labels
In The Chantel family, Pedro and Chantel decide to return to the Dominican Republic because Pedro’s grandmother is sick. Chantel’s family decides to come as well, and the two families eventually unite.
Chantel’s parents and Pedro’s mother and sister sit down to talk after the dinner altercation between Pedro and Chantel’s brother, River. Things explode between families and each has to go before things get out of control when it all ends.
There is a big language barrier, which makes things worse
Chantel’s family cannot understand what Pedro’s mother says, but they do notice his body language when he stands up during the screaming.
“I have no idea what these people are saying. I noticed that Pedro’s mother stood up. Naturally, I also stood up, ”says Karen, Chantel’s mother to the cameras. Thomas, Chantel’s father, explains that they don’t understand what is being said because Pedro’s family speaks Spanish and they don’t.
Chantel’s mother tries to remedy the situation by saying that everything is “fine” now after the fight at home. She apologizes to Nicole, Pedro’s sister.
Karen stands between Chantel and Pedro. “First things first. We’ll have to take turns like we do in therapy. Okay? We talked about when we had a fight at my house and it was fine because it’s over. I apologize for your wig,” Karen tells Nicole.
Mothers try to speak

Lidia does not seem to accept the apology and tells the Chantel family that they are a “bad example” of an American family. This, of course, leads to a response from the Chantel family as well.
“I mean you are a bad example of an American family to us,” Lidia tells them. Pedro translates for the Chantel family.
Karen responds to the comment with her point of view. “If your family thinks that a good example of Americana is a family that allows people to come in and beat them and if it’s a family that doesn’t defend itself, that’s a bad example, if that’s what it is,” Karen responds.
Obviously, there is a significant language barrier, making tensions even greater in this heated exchange. Unfortunately, nothing is solved with this talk and it seems to make things worse.
“You invited my children to your house and you attacked them,” says Lidia. At this point, Chantel and her parents decide that it is time to leave before things explode further.
The heated exchange ends and is one of the most scandalous moments between the two families. The fact that each family speaks a different language makes the situation even more complicated and misinterpreted.
