When the next Resident Evil Village was first announced last month, we think was called Resident Evil 8: Village. It is not! The game is simply called Resident Evil Village. There’s a reason for that.
Why is that? After all, the game is a sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. So shouldn’t you have number eight?
This week Weekly famitsu, producers of the game Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano were asked. They said yes, this is a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, closing that story. So why isn’t this called? Resident Evil 8? Here it is FamitsuThe question, along with the producers’ response:
P. In the Village logo, there is number VIII, so why wasn’t it the title? Resident Evil 8?
A. You could call the real Village another character in the game, and we did so because we’d like players to understand that.
Q. What is the official abbreviation for the game? RE8 or Village?
A. There is not really an official abbreviation, but we would be happy if you remembered Village.
Hrm. I wonder if Capcom will finally launch a Resident Evil 8 numbered game Maybe not, because the logo of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard I used the numbers VII in the logo.
