The Tony Award-winning historical musical will hit Disney + in a special shot by director Thomas Kail, capturing the original cast shortly before they leave production in 2016.

“It’s a different animal than production on stage. As long as I think of them as different things, it’s exciting. I don’t know which film version of Hamilton It seems. If I had, I would have written it as a movie. I know [director] Tommy [Kail] You have the right of first rejection. “
Kail added: “I don’t know what the narrative characteristic of Hamilton looks like anyone. But I have a feeling that, and Lin might have found the key for me, when you’re doing an adaptation of a musical that is a movie, it shouldn’t necessarily try to be the play.
“He has to be free of that, because you will fail. That is something that I will be asked to do when I am asked to make a Fiddler on the Roof, why Fiddler on the Roof It already exists as a fantastic movie.
“I’m going to do something that coexists with that, just like a high school production, a university production and the original Broadway production, and all the revivals of it.”
Hamilton arrives the Disney + on Friday, July 3.
