Are the New England Patriots spying on Cam Newton?
Chris Simms apparently believes so, for whatever it’s worth.
During the latest episode of his “Unbuttoned” podcast, Simms suggested to the Patriots that someone follow Newton since they agreed to a deal with the veteran quarterback last month. The motivation, according to Simms, would be to ensure that Newton doesn’t get off the line and stick to the Patriot Way.
“I think they started doing their homework on Cam,” said Simms. “How is the guy? Work hard? Can you handle our mental routine of things that we put on our offense on a daily basis? I think they started doing their due diligence there. And listen, New England, once again, if you made me a bet, I’d bet New England had followed Cam Newton for three or four weeks. This is how New England works. I don’t want to be creepy about it, but that’s what I’ve always heard they did with Randy Moss in the past. When they signed Randy Moss out of everything I know, they sent someone to see Randy Moss every day. They saw him train. They saw what he did in his life. Knowing New England, they probably did something like that again. ”
We are back baby! The new #AskMeAnything pod with @FareedNBCS is ready.
-Cam Newton to Pats is boom-or-bust

-Best O-linemen in the 5 points
The most talented team in the NFL?
-Mascot Pro Bowl (go with the humans) https://t.co/rIQbILzEAr– Chris Simms (@CSimmsQB) July 15, 2020
It seems a bit excessive. On the other hand, we wouldn’t put anything beyond the Patriots.
