Sandra Oh has revealed that there were times when she was in Grey’s Anatomy that she rejected the writers and Shonda Rhimes.

An example came in the third season, when Cristina married Dr. Preston Burke.

“Now my interest is much more in bringing that story.”
Oh continued: “There would be scenes where I would just go, I don’t know, ten rounds and I know it was difficult. And I really respect all the writers who came with me.
“When it felt like a dead end, [Shonda and I] We would both be digging enormously in our heels. But just because of the friction itself, a third thing would often come out, and it wouldn’t be in plain sight of my consciousness at all. It would take that push against someone equally strong.
“I started learning to trust that.”

Oh was recently announced for Netflix original animated movie On the moon, which has its roots in East Asian culture.
Speaking at a virtual conference, the star said that in addition to being part of a movie with an Asian cast, one aspect that appealed to her was the fact that the story was “very culturally specific.”
