Adore Delano in the fifth season and ‘All Stars 2’

Delano, a RuPaul’s Drag Race Legend, he is one of the most popular and notable contestants in the history of the show. This was not the first time that Delano, whose real name is Danny Noriega, was on a reality show. Noriega was a contestant on the seventh season of American idol, reaching the top 16.

In the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Delano was a fan favorite, becoming the top three with Bianca Del Rio and the Courtney Act. She finished as runner-up, winning three challenges and ranking twice more.

Why did Adore Delano resign?

Delano became the first RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant to voluntarily leave the competition when he left during the second episode of All stars 2. Although not exactly a similar situation, the closest voluntary departure to Delano’s was when BenDeLaCreme decided to eliminate himself in the midst of All stars 3.

She chose to leave after receiving criticism that she thought was too harsh during the first episode of the show. The criticisms were delivered to him by Judge Michelle Visage and Guest Judge Raven-Symoné. Delano thought she had gained confidence and was in a good place and was not prepared to be criticized like that again. She also cited that she and Visage had worked together on tours since their last time in Endurance race and she was not anticipating how her dynamics would return to the competing judge. Visage and the other queens tried to get Delano to stay, but she did not.

How did you feel about the situation later?

During the reunion episode for All Stars 2, Delano explained that he regrets having given up the competition. “I’m ashamed. I felt like I shouldn’t have done that. I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. No one follows All Stars 2 and it’s like leaving. It’s like, a blow. It’s not even my style, “she said.

“I was like, f ** k, the outfits they made me can’t resist me, man,” he continued. “I didn’t prepare to go back to the whole elimination process, to the criticism process, to the runway … and I wasn’t mentally prepared to listen [critiques] Michelle’s, either.

He also said Visage’s comments did not ignite his desire to leave, but even more so Symoné’s criticism. “Michelle is not to blame, like, completely,” he later said of Periscope with fans. “It actually started with Raven-Symoné. She said something super, super cruel and something I’m not sure she remembers that she probably said to me, but, like, she touched me at home and made me super sensitive and super angry … but, Michelle went to the jugular. “
