White Sox fire manager Rick Renteria after a disappointing playoff elimination

Chicago White Sox and manager Rick Renteria have agreed to participate, The team made the announcement in a statement Monday.

Chicago White Sox and manager Rick Renteria have agreed to participate after the 2020 season. Rick Heane, general manager / senior vice president of the White Sox, made the announcement today.

Renteria completed his fourth season as White Sox manager in 2020, leading the Sox to a 35-25 (.583) record and tied for second place in American League Central. The White Sox lost three AL Postseason Wild Card Series in th Cland Athletics in their three best games. In his four seasons at the helm (2017-2020), Renteria guided the White Sox to a 236-309 (.436) combined mark and a postseason appearance.

Renteria was hired on October 3, 2016 to replace Rontin Ventura. Renteria spent the 2016 season as a bench coach for the White Sox. He ran the Chicago Cubs in 2014, setting a record of 73-89. In 2018, the White Sox announced that they had agreed to an extension of the contract for Renteria. Rick Hahn, general manager of the White Sox, did not provide any specifics at the time, but Renteria’s original three-year contract was due to expire after the 2019 season.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise as the White Sox find a place in the 2020 MLB playoffs to end a 1220-year-old drought. Rentaria has been at the helm of Chicago’s Punild Build since joining four years ago. The White Sox have a 236-309 (.433) record under Renteria, including a 100-loss campaign in 2018. But, the team eventually broke up with their first postseason berth since 2008. Clearly, that wasn’t enough to keep Renteria.

Chicago lost in the American League Wild Card round to Auckland Athletics. They lost the best-of-three series, 2-1. In Game In, Anna Bullpen outscored Chicago, and Chad Pinder had to go two-one in the fifth inning to seal Auckland’s victory.

Until 2020, the White Sox club did not record a winning record after the 2012 season when they finished 85-77. The club has a competitive A.L. with a 35-25 record. Central finished third in the regular season.

The White Sox’s big se fisson not move helped cement their transition from re-build to contender this year. In the past se fisson na, Yasmani Grandel, Dallas Cachel, Edwin Ankarnasian and Gio Gonzalez were brought to the club.

Chicago also signed P te first baseman Jose Ebre – who has an MVP-worthy 2020 campaign – in a three-year extension. With a huge pool of talented young players from clubs like Tim Anderson, Louis Roberts and Alloy Jimenez, this se fison has not increased their free agent costs.
