That player would be multiple Pro Bowl defensive end Everson Griffen, who signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. Griffen played for Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll in high school at USC and will play professionally for a team that is not the Minnesota Vikings for the first time.

“Clay Matthews seems to be the man they judge next to, the man they believe will come in and be the man after Everson Griffen,” Heaps said. ‘But in my mind I’m still looking at this defensive approach, guys. I’m still hitting the table and saying that defensive tackle is still a massive need of this team, it’s a big hole and you need to fill that depth with good rotation players and good proven players, and there’s something out there. “
